This was a passion project dedicated to my fondness of Taylor Swift's album Reputation. 11th November 2022 marked the album's five-year anniversary, so I designed a limited-edition vinyl cover in it's honour.
The original reputation album cover cleverly adopts a black and white newspaper theme, nodding to the hate she received from the press following several controversies such as the Kim and Kanye feud. But I wanted this cover to reflect her current, more reflective and mature musical style.
The concept: hating someone is like drinking poison and expecting them to die, fitting considering the overarching themes of revenge, scandal, rage and finding love despite it all. Songs such as Dress, This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things and Gorgeous see Swift indulging in material things, while So It Goes..., Getaway Car and Delicate mark Swift's foray into mentioning drinking and sex, both a far cry from her sweet-natured, innocent 'reputation'.
Burnt orange tones signify danger, lust and all those good things, contrasted by the purity of the white heart diamond, representing finding love at a time of extreme hardship and self-awakening. The font is a simple serif, nodding to the media influences, but more toned down to a) create a more mature identity and b) allow the artwork to shine. All lowercase because in this album, she's raw, reckless and doesn't care about any formalities.
